If DTC P145C is indicated alone, do the troubleshooting for DTC P0496 and
P0497 using the freeze data for P145C.
If DTC P0497 and P145C are stored at the same time, check for a poor
connection, a blockage, or damage at the EVAP canister purge line
between the EVAP canister purge valve and the EVAP canister. Also check
for a stuck closed EVAP canister purge valve.

If any of the DTCs listed below are indicated at the same time as DTC
P145C, troubleshoot those DTCs first, then recheck for P145C.

Are DTC P0496 or P0497 and P145C indicated at the same time?
YES : Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO : Go to the DTC P0496 TROUBLESHOOTING and the DTC P0497 TROUBLESHOOTING.

If a high voltage battery (24 V, etc.) is connected to the vehicle, this DTC
can be stored.
DTC Description
Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P1549 CHARGING SYSTEM HIGH VOLTAGE
1. Problem verification:

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
ο‘
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or
HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .
ο‘
ο‘
3. Start the engine.
4. Check under these conditions:

ο¬
ο¬
A/C off
Headlights off
Rear window defogger off
ο‘
5. Hold the engine speed at 3, 000 rpm (in P or N) for 1 minute.
ο‘
6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description
Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P1549 CHARGING SYSTEM HIGH VOLTAGE
Is DTC P1549 indicated?
YES : Replace the alternator See ALTERNATOR OVERHAUL or ALTERNATOR REMOVAL
AND INSTALLATION , then do the repair verification .
NO : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at
the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box.
REPAIR VERIFICATION (OBD STATUS CHECK)

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Reset the PCM with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or HOW
TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .

3. DO THE PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE .
4. Start the engine.
5. Check under these conditions:

A/C off
Headlights off
Rear window defogger off
ο‘
6. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P1549 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
DTC Description
OBD Status
P1549 CHARGING SYSTEM HIGH VOLTAGE
Does the HDS indicate PASSED, FAILED, or NOT COMPLETED?
PASSED : Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated, go to the
indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
FAILED : Go to step 1 and recheck.
NOT COMPLETED : Meet the test condition, and check the OBD STATUS again.
