Honda CR-V Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system ➜ DTC P0340: CMP Sensor A No Signal

YES : Go to step 4.  
NO : Repair the connections or terminals, then do the repair verification .  
4. CKP pulse plate visual check:  
ο‚‘
1. REMOVE THE CKP SENSOR , and check for damage to the CKP pulse plate.  
Is the pulse plate damaged?  
YES : REPLACE THE CKP PULSE PLATE , then do the repair verification .  
NO : REPLACE THE CKP SENSOR , then do the repair verification .  
REPAIR VERIFICATION

ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Reconnect all connectors.  
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Reset the PCM with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or HOW  
TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .

ο‚‘
5. DO THE PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE .  
6. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE  
A/T SYSTEM or HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .

ο‚‘
7. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds, or test-drive the vehicle for several minutes under the  
freeze data conditions (same as step 2-1 ).  
8. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

P0339 CKP SENSOR CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT  
INTERRUPTION  
Is DTC P0339 indicated?  
YES : Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CKP sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1.  
NO : Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated  
DTC's troubleshooting.

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and  
review the general troubleshooting information See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT

1. Problem verification:

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or  
HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
3. Start the engine.  
4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.  
DTC Description  
Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame  
P0340 CMP SENSOR A NO PULSE  
Is DTC P0340 indicated?  
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.  
NO : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at  
CMP sensor A and the PCM.  
2. Open wire check (IG1(CAM)/IG1(MAIN)/IG1 ACG line):

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connector.  
ο‚‘
CMP sensor A 3P connector  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
CMP sensor A 3P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit IG1(CAM)  
Test point 1 CMP sensor A 3P connector No. 1 (WHT)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there battery voltage?  
YES : The IG1(CAM)/IG1(MAIN)/IG1 ACG wire is OK. Go to step 3.  
NO : Repair an open in the IG1(CAM)/IG1(MAIN)/IG1 ACG wire between No. B2 (10 A) fuse in the  
under-dash fuse/relay box and CMP sensor A, then do the repair verification .  
3. Determine possible failure area (CAM line, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
CMP sensor A 3P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit CAM  
Test point 1 CMP sensor A 3P connector No. 3 (BLU)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there about 5.0 V?  
YES : The CAM wire is OK. Go to step 4.  
NO : There is a problem in the CAM wire. Go to step 5.  
4. Open wire check (LG2 line):  
ο‚‘
1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
CMP sensor A 3P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit IG1(CAM), LG2  
Test point 1 CMP sensor A 3P connector No. 1 (WHT)  
Test point 2 CMP sensor A 3P connector No. 2 (BRN)

Is there battery voltage?  
YES : The LG2 wire is OK. REPLACE CMP SENSOR A , then do the repair verification .  
NO : Repair an open in the LG2 wire between CMP sensor A and G101, then do the repair verification .  
5. Shorted wire check (CAM line):

ο‚‘
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.  
3. Disconnect the following connector.  
PCM connector C (49P)  
ο‚‘
4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
CMP sensor A 3P connector: disconnected  
PCM connector C (49P): disconnected  
Test circuit CAM  
Test point 1 PCM connector C (49P) No. 16 (BLU)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there continuity?  
YES : Repair a short in the CAM wire between the PCM (C16) and CMP sensor A, then do the repair  
verification .  
NO : The CAM wire is not shorted. Go to step 6.  
6. Open wire check (CAM line):  
ο‚‘
1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
CMP sensor A 3P connector: disconnected  
PCM connector C (49P): disconnected  
Test circuit CAM  
Test point 1 PCM connector C (49P) No. 16 (BLU)  
Test point 2 CMP sensor A 3P connector No. 3 (BLU)

Is there continuity?  
YES : The CAM wire is OK. Update the PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or  
PCM UPDATE if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM See PCM  
UPDATE or PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , then do the repair verification .  
NO : Repair an open in the CAM wire between the PCM (C16) and CMP sensor A, then do the repair  
verification .  
REPAIR VERIFICATION

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Reconnect all connectors.  
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Reset the PCM with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or HOW  
TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .

ο‚‘
5. DO THE PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE .  
6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.  
DTC Description  
Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame  
P0340 CMP SENSOR A NO PULSE  
Is DTC P0340 indicated?  
YES : Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor A and the PCM. If the PCM was updated,  
substitute a known-good PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE , then  
recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1.  
NO : Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM See PCM UPDATE  
or PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to  
the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.  
DTC P0341: CMP SENSOR A AND CKP SENSOR INCORRECT PHASE  
DETECTED
