Honda CR-V Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system ➜ DTC P0344: CMP Sensor A Circuit Intermittent Interruption

A/T SYSTEM or HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .  
5. Test-drive at a steady speed between 19-38 mph (30-60 km/h) for 10 minutes.  
6. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0341 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

DTC Description  
OBD STATUS  
P0341 CMP SENSOR A AND CKP SENSOR INCORRECT PHASE DETECTED  
Does the HDS indicate PASSED, FAILED, or NOT COMPLETED?  
PASSED : Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated, go to the  
indicated DTC's troubleshooting.  
FAILED : Go to step 1 and recheck.  
NOT COMPLETED : Meet the test condition, and check the OBD STATUS again.

NOTE:  
Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and  
review the general troubleshooting information See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT  
THE A/T SYSTEM or HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS  
SYSTEMS .

P0344 CMP SENSOR A CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT  
INTERRUPTION  
1. Problem verification (idling):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
ο‚‘
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or  
HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
3. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.  
4. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0344 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate FAILED?  
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.  
NO : If the HDS indicates PASSED, go to step 2. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, keep idling  
until a result comes on.  
2. Problem verification (test-drive):  
ο‚‘
1. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of these recorded freeze data parameters:  

ENGINE SPEED  
VEHICLE SPEED  

ο‚‘
2. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0344 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

P0344 CMP SENSOR A CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT INTERRUPTION  
Does the HDS indicate FAILED?  
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.  
NO : If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor  
connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor A and the PCM. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED,  
retest and check the OBD STATUS again.  
3. Connectors and terminals visual check:

1. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at these locations:  




CMP sensor A  
PCM  
Engine ground  
Body ground  
Are the connections and terminals OK?  
YES : Go to step 4.  
NO : Repair the connections or terminals, then do the repair verification .  
4. CMP pulse plate A visual check:

1. Remove the cylinder head cover, then check for damage to CMP pulse plate A.  
Is the pulse plate damaged?  
YES : Replace CMP pulse plate A See CMP PULSE PLATE A REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  
or CMP PULSE PLATE B REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , then do the repair verification .  
NO : REPLACE CMP SENSOR A , then do the repair verification .  
REPAIR VERIFICATION

ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Reconnect all connectors.  
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Reset the PCM with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or HOW  
TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .

5. DO THE PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE .  
6. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds, or test-drive the vehicle for several minutes under the  
freeze data conditions (same as step 2-1 ).

7. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

INTERRUPTION  
Is DTC P0344 indicated?  
YES : Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor A and the PCM, then go to step 1.  
NO : Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated  
DTC's troubleshooting.  
DTC P0351: NO. 1 CYLINDER IGNITION COIL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION; DTC  
P0352: NO. 2 CYLINDER IGNITION COIL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION; DTC  
P0353: NO. 3 CYLINDER IGNITION COIL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION; DTC  
P0354: NO. 4 CYLINDER IGNITION COIL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION
