Honda CR-V Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system ➜ DTC P0328: Knock Sensor Circuit High Voltage

Is DTC P0327 indicated?  
YES : Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the knock sensor and the PCM. If the PCM was  
updated, substitute a known-good PCM See PCM UPDATE or PCM REMOVAL AND  
INSTALLATION , then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1.  
NO : Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM See PCM  
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE . If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are  
indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

NOTE:  
Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and  
review the general troubleshooting information See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT  
THE A/T SYSTEM or HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS  
SYSTEMS .  
DTC Description  
Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame  
P0328 KNOCK SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH VOLTAGE  
1. Problem verification:  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND  
EMISSIONS SYSTEMS or HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM .

ο‚‘
ο‚‘
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

P0328 KNOCK SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH  
VOLTAGE  
Is DTC P0328 indicated?  
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.  
NO : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at  
the knock sensor and the PCM.  
2. Determine possible failure area (knock sensor, others):

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connector.  
ο‚‘
Knock sensor 2P connector  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
Knock sensor 2P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit KS, KSGND  
Test point 1 Knock sensor 2P connector No. 1 (BLK)  
Test point 2 Knock sensor 2P connector No. 2 (WHT)

Is there about 5.0 V?  
YES : REPLACE THE KNOCK SENSOR , then do the repair verification .  
NO : Go to step 3.  
3. Determine possible failure area (KS line, KSGND line):  
ο‚‘
1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
Knock sensor 2P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit KS  
Test point 1 Knock sensor 2P connector No. 2 (WHT)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there about 5.0 V?  
YES : Go to step 4.  
NO : Go to step 5.  
4. Open wire check (KSGND line):

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.  
3. Disconnect the following connector.  
PCM connector C (49P)  
ο‚‘
4. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.  
Terminal A Knock sensor 2P connector No. 1 (BLK)  
Terminal B Body ground

5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Knock sensor 2P connector: disconnected  
Knock sensor 2P connector No. 1: jumped to body ground  
PCM connector C (49P): disconnected  
Test circuit KSGND  
Test point 1 PCM connector C (49P) No. 48 (GRN)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there continuity?  
YES : The KSGND wire is OK. Update the PCM See PCM UPDATE or PCM REMOVAL AND  
INSTALLATION if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM See PCM  
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE , then do the repair verification .  
NO : Repair an open in the KSGND wire between the PCM (C48) and the knock sensor, then do the  
repair verification .  
5. Open wire check (KS line):

ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.  
3. Disconnect the following connector.  
PCM connector C (49P)  
ο‚‘
4. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.  
Terminal A Knock sensor 2P connector No. 2 (WHT)  
Terminal B Body ground

5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Knock sensor 2P connector: disconnected  
Knock sensor 2P connector No. 2: jumped to body ground  
PCM connector C (49P): disconnected  
Test circuit KS  
Test point 1 PCM connector C (49P) No. 17 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there continuity?  
YES : The KS wires are OK. Update the PCM See PCM UPDATE or PCM REMOVAL AND  
INSTALLATION if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM See PCM  
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE , then do the repair verification .  
NO : Repair an open in the KS wire between the PCM (C17) and the knock sensor, then do the repair  
verification .  
REPAIR VERIFICATION

ο‚‘
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Reconnect all connectors.  
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Reset the PCM with the HDS See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS  
SYSTEMS or HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM .

5. DO THE PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE .  
6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.  
DTC Description  
Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame  
P0328 KNOCK SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH VOLTAGE  
Is DTC P0328 indicated?  
YES : Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the knock sensor and the PCM. If the PCM was  
updated, substitute a known-good PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM  
UPDATE , then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1.  
NO : Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM See PCM  
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE . If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are  
indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
