NAVIGATION)

NOTE:  


CHECK THE VEHICLE BATTERY CONDITION FIRST .  
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.  
1. Problem verification:  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
ο‚‘
2. Turn on the audio unit, and press the XM button to check if the multi-information display  
changes to the XM radio information screen.  
Is the XM radio information displayed?  
YES : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
NO : The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.  
2. Determine possible failure area (GA +B line, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
ο‚‘
2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Test circuit GA +B  
Test point 1 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 6 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there battery voltage?  
YES : The GA +B wire is OK. Go to step 5.  
NO : Go to step 3.  
3. Open wire check (GA +B line):  
ο‚‘
1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Test circuit GA +B  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 6 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

And Body Ground

Is there battery voltage?  
YES : Repair an open or high resistance in the wires between the audio unit and the XM receiver.  
NO : Go to step 4.  
4. Shorted wire check (GA +B line):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connectors:  
ο‚‘
Audio unit connector C (14P)  
XM receiver connector A (14P)  
HandsFreeLink control unit connector (32P)  
3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
ο‚‘
Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver A (14) connector: disconnected  
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit GA +B  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 6 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there continuity?  
YES : Repair a short to ground in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO UNIT .  
5. Determine possible failure area (GA GND line, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
ο‚‘
2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
Test circuit GA GND  
Test point 1 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 10 (BLK)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there less than 0.2 V?  
YES : The GA GND wire is OK. Go to step 7.  
NO : Go to step 6.  
6. Open or high resistance wire check (GA GND line):  
ο‚‘
1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
Test circuit GA GND  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 10 (BLK)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there any voltage?  
YES : REPLACE THE AUDIO UNIT .  
NO : Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.  
7. Open wire check (GA SYS ON line):  
ο‚‘
1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver connector A (14P): disconnected  
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
Test circuit GA SYS ON  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 5 (PNK)  
Test point 2 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 5 (PNK)

Is there continuity?  
YES : The GA SYS ON wire is OK. Go to step 8.  
NO : Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.  
8. Shorted wire check (GA BUS+ line, GA BUS- line):  
ο‚‘
1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver connector A (14P): disconnected  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit GA BUS-  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 11 (PNK)  
Test point 2 Body ground  
Test circuit GA BUS+  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 12 (BLU)

Is there continuity?  
YES : There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace  
the affected shielded harness.  
NO : The GA BUS+ and the GA BUS- wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 9.  
9. Shorted wire check (GA BUS+ line to GA BUS- line):  
ο‚‘
1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver connector A (14P): disconnected  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit GA BUS-, GA BUS+  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 11 (PNK)  
Test point 2 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 12 (BLU)

Is there continuity?  
YES : There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected  
shielded harness.  
NO : The GA BUS+ and the GA BUS- wires are not shorted. Go to step 10.  
10. Shorted wire check (SH GA BUS line to another lines):

1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver connector A (14P): disconnected  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit SH GA BUS, GA BUS+  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 4 (GRY)  
Test point 2 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 12 (BLU)  
Test circuit SH GA BUS, GA BUS-  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 4 (GRY)  
Test point 2 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 11 (PNK)

Is there continuity?  
YES : There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected  
shielded harness.  
NO : The SH GA BUS wire is OK. Go to step 11.  
11. Open wire check (GA BUS+ line, GA BUS- line):  
ο‚‘
1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver connector A (14P): disconnected  
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
Test circuit GA BUS-  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 11 (PNK)  
Test point 2 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 11 (PNK)  
Test circuit GA BUS+  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 12 (BLU)  
Test point 2 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 12 (BLU)

Is there continuity?  
YES : The GA BUS+ and the GA BUS- wires are OK. Go to step 12.  
NO : There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the  
affected shielded harness.  
12. Determine possible failure area (related unit, others):  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
1. Reconnect audio unit connector C (14P) and multi-information display unit connector A (32P).  
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
3. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select the USB mode.  
NOTE:  
Do not connect the USB device.  
Is USB information (No Data) displayed in the multi-information display unit?  
YES : Go to step 13.  
NO : Go to step 14.  
13. XM receiver check:  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Reconnect XM receiver connector A (14P).  
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Turn on the audio unit, and press the XM button to check if the multi-information display  
changes to the XM radio information screen.  
Is the XM radio information displayed?  
YES : Replace the original HandsFreeLink control unit.  
NO : REPLACE THE XM RECEIVER .  
14. Audio unit check:  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. SUBSTITUTE A KNOWN-GOOD MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT .  
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
4. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select the USB mode.  
NOTE:  
Do not connect the USB device.  
Is USB information (No Data) displayed in the multi-information display unit?  
YES : Replace the original multi-information display unit.  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO UNIT .  
XM RADIO PRESET MEMORY IS LOST (WITH NAVIGATION)

If you can only tune to channel 000, 001, and 174, make sure the audio-
