Honda CR-V Audio System Troubleshooting & Testing ➜ Multi-Information Display Unit Does Not Work

2. Substitute a known-good XM antenna lead, and recheck.  
Does the symptom/indication go away?  
YES : Replace the original XM antenna lead.  
NO : REPLACE THE XM RECEIVER .  
MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT DOES NOT WORK

NOTE:  



CHECK THE VEHICLE BATTERY CONDITION FIRST .  
Check for B-CAN DTCs and resolve them before troubleshooting.  
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.  
1. Problem verification:  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
2. Check if any MID information appears on the multi-information display unit.  
ο‚‘
Is there any information displayed?  
YES : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
NO : The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.  
2. Fuse check:  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Check the following fuse.  
ο‚‘
Fuse No. A29 (10 A)  
Location Under-hood fuse/relay box  
Is the fuse OK?  
YES : Go to step 3.  
NO : Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. A29 (10 A) fuse  
circuit.  
3. Open wire check (+B BACK UP line):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
ο‚‘
2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Test circuit +B BACK UP  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 16 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there battery voltage?  
YES : The +B BACK UP wire is OK. Go to step 4.  
NO : Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the No. A29 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood  
fuse/relay box and the multi-information display unit.  
4. Open wire check (GND line):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
ο‚‘
2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
Test circuit GND  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 10 (BRN)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there less than 0.2 V?  
YES : The GND wire is OK. Go to step 5.  
NO : Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the multi-information display unit and body  
ground (G502).  
5. Open wire check (B CAN-H line, B CAN-L line):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connectors.  
ο‚‘
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P)  
Gauge control module 32P connector  
ο‚‘
3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit B CAN-H  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 31 (PNK)  
Test point 2 Gauge control module 32P connector No. 30 (PNK)  
Test circuit B CAN-L  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 15 (BLU)  
Test point 2 Gauge control module 32P connector No. 31 (BLU)

Is there continuity?  
YES : REPLACE THE MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT .  
NO : Repair an open in the wire(s) between the multi-information display unit and the gauge control  
module.  
NO SOUND IS HEARD FROM THE SPEAKER(S) (DISPLAY IS NORMAL) (KA, KC MODELS  
WITH NAVIGATION)
