Is there continuity?
YES : The B CAN-H and the B CAN-L wires are OK. Go to step 10.
NO : Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the multi-information display unit.
10. Audio unit check:

1. SUBSTITUTE A KNOWN-GOOD MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT , and
recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES : Replace the original multi-information display unit.
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO UNIT .
AUDIO REMOTE SWITCH DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY (AUDIO UNIT BUTTONS WORK)
(WITHOUT MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION)

CHECK THE VEHICLE BATTERY CONDITION FIRST .
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Problem verification:
1. Turn on the audio unit, and using the audio remote switch buttons, check if the audio unit
operates properly.
ο‘
Is the audio unit operation OK?
YES : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO : The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
2. Determine possible failure area (audio remote switch, others):
ο‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect the following connector.
ο‘
Audio remote switch 12P connector
ο‘
3. DO THE AUDIO REMOTE SWITCH TEST .
Is the audio remote switch OK?
YES : Go to step 3.
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO REMOTE SWITCH .
3. Shorted wire check (AUDIO REMOTE SW line):
ο‘
1. Disconnect the following connector.
NOTE:
Eject all the discs before disconnecting the audio unit to prevent
damaging the CD player's load mechanism.

2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
Audio remote switch 12P connector: disconnected
Audio unit connector A (24P): disconnected
Test circuit AUDIO REMOTE SW

Is there continuity?
YES : Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the audio unit and the audio remote switch. If
the wire is OK, REPLACE THE CABLE REEL .
NO : The AUDIO REMOTE SW wire is not shorted to ground. Go to step 4.
4. Open wire check (AUDIO REMOTE SW line, REMOTE SW GND line):

1. Reconnect the audio remote switch, and measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2 as
specified in the table.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
Audio unit connector A (24P): disconnected
Test circuit AUDIO REMOTE SW, REMOTE SW GND
Test point 1 Audio unit connector A (24P) No. 22 (PNK)
Test point 2 Audio unit connector A (24P) No. 11 (BRN)

Is the resistance OK?
YES : REPLACE THE AUDIO UNIT .
NO : Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio remote switch. If the wires are
OK, REPLACE THE CABLE REEL .
AUDIO SYSTEM INFORMATION DOES NOT DISPLAY ON THE CENTER DISPLAY
