Honda CR-V Audio System Troubleshooting & Testing ➜ XM Radio Display Is Blank and No Station Information Is Displayed (Navigation)

ο‚‘
1. Test-drive the vehicle at freeway speeds and monitor the volume level.  
Is the volume level too high, or too low?  
YES : The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.  
NO : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
2. Operation check:  
ο‚‘
1. Change the SVC mode setting in sound set-up to SVC MID.  
Is the volume level still too high, or too low?  
YES : REPLACE THE AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT .  
YES : REPLACE THE AUDIO UNIT .  
NO : Improper SVC setting for the customers sound taste.  
XM RADIO DISPLAY IS BLANK AND NO STATION INFORMATION IS DISPLAYED  
(NAVIGATION)

NOTE:  


CHECK THE VEHICLE BATTERY CONDITION FIRST .  
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.  
1. Determine possible failure area (related GA-NET circuit, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
ο‚‘
2. Turn on the audio system, and press the AUDIO button to check if the multi-information display  
changes to the audio information screen.  
Is the audio information displayed?  
YES : Go to step 2.  
NO :Go to Audio system information does not display on the multi-information display unit (With  
Navigation) troubleshooting.  
2. Problem verification:  
ο‚‘
1. Press the CD/XM button to check if the navigation display changes to the XM radio information  
screen.  
Is the XM radio information displayed?  
YES : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
NO : The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.  
3. Determine possible failure area (GA +B line, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
ο‚‘
2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Test circuit GA +B  
Test point 1 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 6 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there battery voltage?  
YES : The GA +B wire is OK. Go to step 6.  
NO  
Go to step 4.  
4. Open wire check (GA +B line):  
ο‚‘
1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Test circuit GA +B  
Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) No. 6 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there battery voltage?  
YES : Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the XM  
receiver.  
NO : Go to step 5.  
5. Shorted wire check (GA +B line):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connectors:  
ο‚‘
Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P)  
XM receiver connector A (14P)  
HandsFreeLink control unit connector (32P)  
3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
ο‚‘
Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver A (14) connector: disconnected  
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected  
Test circuit GA +B  
Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) No. 6 (RED)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there continuity?  
YES : Repair a short to ground in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver.  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT .  
6. Determine possible failure area (GA GND line, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
ο‚‘
2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
Test circuit GA GND  
Test point 1 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 10 (BLK)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there less than 0.2 V?  
YES : The GA GND wire is OK. Go to step 8.  
NO : Go to step 7.  
7. Open or high resistance wire check (GA GND line):  
ο‚‘
1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG ON (II)  
Test circuit GA GND  
Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (14P) No. 10 (BLK)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there any voltage?  
YES : REPLACE THE AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT .  
NO : Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.  
8. Open wire check (GA SYS ON line):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connectors.  
ο‚‘
Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P)  
XM receiver connector A (14P)  
ο‚‘
3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver connector A (14P): disconnected Test circuit GA SYS ON  
Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) No. 5 (PNK)  
Test point 2 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 5 (PNK)

Is there continuity?  
YES : The GA SYS ON wire is OK. Go to step 9.  
NO : Repair an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver.  
9. Open wire check (GA BUS+ line, GA BUS- line):  
ο‚‘
1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P): disconnected  
XM receiver connector A (14P): disconnected  
Test circuit GA BUS-  
Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) No. 11 (PNK)  
Test point 2 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 11 (PNK)  
Test circuit GA BUS+  
Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) No. 12 (BLU)  
Test point 2 XM receiver connector A (14P) No. 12 (BLU)

Is there continuity?  
YES : The GA BUS+ and the GA BUS- wires are OK. Go to step 10.  
NO : There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the  
affected shielded harness.  
10. Audio-navigation unit check:  
ο‚‘
1. SUBSTITUTE A KNOWN-GOOD XM RECEIVER , and recheck.  
Does the symptom go away?  
YES : Replace the original XM receiver.  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT .  
XM RADIO DISPLAY IS BLANK AND NO STATION INFORMATION IS DISPLAYED (WITHOUT  
NAVIGATION)
