YES : The GA AUDIO wires are OK. Go to step 8.
NO : There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the multi-information display
unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
8. Audio-navigation unit check:

1. SUBSTITUTE A KNOWN-GOOD MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT , and
recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES : Replace the original multi-information display unit.
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT .
USB INPUT SOUND IS LOW OR CANNOT BE HEARD (WITH MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY,
WITHOUT NAVIGATION)

Not all players and player functions work with the USB adapter. Please see
the Owner's Manual for more information. Always test the customer's USB
device in a known-good vehicle of the same year and trim (if possible).
Technologies change and are updated frequently which may result in USB
devices working in newer vehicles, but not in older vehicles of the same
model.

Check the USB device's volume settings.
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Determine possible failure area (USB system, others):
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. DO THE SPEAKER CHECK MODE WITH THE SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION.
Do all speakers make a sound?
YES : Go to step 2.
NO : Go to No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (With Stereo Amplifier
without Navigation) troubleshooting.
NO : Go to No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (Without Navigation and
Stereo Amplifier) troubleshooting.
2. Problem verification:

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
ο‘
2. On the customer's vehicle, connect the customer's USB device to the USB port located in the
center console.

ο‘
ο‘
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
4. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select the USB mode.
5. Check if the USB device can be operated with the audio unit (Folders or Files UP/DOWN, etc.).
Can you operate the USB device, and is the sound normal?
YES : Intermittent failure. The USB device is OK at this time.
NO : The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.
3. Determine possible failure area (USB device, others):
ο‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
ο‘
2. Connect the customer's USB device to a known-good vehicle (same year/trim) that is equipped
with a USB adapter, and check the USB device operation.
Does the USB device work properly in the known-good vehicle?
YES : Go to step 4.
NO : USB device is faulty or not compatible.
4. Determine possible failure area (XM receiver).
ο‘
1. DISCONNECT THE XM RECEIVER and retest.
Does the symptom go away?
YES : Replace the XM receiver.
NO : Go to step 5.
5. Determine possible failure area (HFL control unit)
ο‘
1. Disconnect the HFL control unit See HANDSFREELINK CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL
AND INSTALLATION or HANDSFREELINK CONTROL UNIT UPDATE and retest.
Does the symptom go away?
YES : Replace the HFL control unit.
NO : Go to step 6.
6. Shorted wire check (GA AUDIO lines):

1. Return to the customer's vehicle.
ο‘
2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Audio unit connector C (14P)
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P)
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector
XM receiver connector A (14P) (with XM)

3. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected
XM receiver connector A (14P) (with XM): disconnected

YES : There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the multi-information
display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO : The GA AUDIO wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 7.
7. Shorted wire check (SH GA AUDIO line to another lines):

YES : There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace

NO : The SH GA AUDIO wire is OK. Go to step 8.
