3. Test drive the vehicle to identify when the disc skips. The audio diagnostic CD (T/N: 07AAZ-  
SDBA100) can be used if the customers disc is not available. Use tracks 10 to 12.  
Does the disc skip?  
YES : The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.  
NO : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
2. Problem verification 2:  
1. The vehicle parked and engine running.  
2. Eject the CD, and insert the diagnostic skip test CD (T/N: 07AAZSDBA300) (ABEX TCD 721).  
Play tracks 2 to 11 and note the track number(s) where the CD starts skipping. Do the same test on  
a known-good vehicle.  
Does the CD skip on the same track number(s) on both vehicles?  
YES : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
NO : The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.  
3. Audio unit check:  
ο‚‘
1. Eject the CD, and insert the diagnostic skip test CD (T/N: 07AAZSDBA200) (ABEX TCD  
725B) play tracks 7 to 11 and tracks 13 to 15 and note the track number(s) where the CD starts  
skipping. Do the same test on a known-good vehicle.  
Does the CD skip on the same track number(s) on both vehicles?  
YES : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT .  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO UNIT .

NOTE:  


CHECK THE VEHICLE BATTERY CONDITION FIRST .  
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.  
1. Determine possible failure area (audio system, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
ο‚‘
2. Check if any MID information appears on the multi-information display unit.  
Is there any information displayed?  
YES : Go to step 2.  
NO : Go to MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT DOES NOT WORK  
TROUBLESHOOTING.  
2. Problem verification:  
ο‚‘
1. Turn on the audio system, and using the audio remote switch buttons, check if the multi-  
information display operates properly.  
Is the display operation OK?  
YES : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
NO : The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.  
3. Determine possible failure area (B CAN lines, others):  
ο‚‘
1. DO THE SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION, AND USE THE IN LINE DIAG IN THE  
DISPLAY DIAGNOSIS.  
NOTE:  
When specific button(s) does not work normally, try with the specific  
button(s).  
Does the Display Diagnosis start, and is the audio remote switch connection OK?  
YES : Go to step 9.  
NO : Go to step 4.  
4. Determine possible failure area (audio remote/multi-information display switch, others):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connector.  
ο‚‘
Audio remote/multi-information display switch 12P connector  
ο‚‘
3. DO THE AUDIO REMOTE/MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY SWITCH TEST .  
Is the audio remote/multi-information display switch OK?  
YES : Go to step 5.  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO REMOTE/MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY SWITCH .  
5. Shorted wire check (AUDIO REMOTE SW line, TFT INFO line):  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
1. Disconnect the following connector.  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P)  
2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Audio remote/multi-information display switch 12P connector: disconnected Multi-information  
display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
Test circuit AUDIO REMOTE SW  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 6 (PNK)  
Test point 2 Body ground  
Test circuit TFT INFO  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 7 (PUR)  
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there continuity?  
YES : Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the multi-information display unit and the  
audio remote switch. If the wires are OK, REPLACE THE CABLE REEL .  
NO : The AUDIO REMOTE SW and the TFT INFO wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 6.  
6. Determine possible failure area (TFT INFO line, others):  
1. Reconnect the audio remote/multi-information display switch, and measure the resistance between  
test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
Test circuit AUDIO REMOTE SW, REMOTE SW GND  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 6 (PNK)  
Test point 2 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 23 (BRN)

Is the resistance OK?  
YES : Go to step 7.  
NO : Go to step 8.  
7. Open wire check (TFT INFO line):  
1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
Test circuit TFT INFO, REMOTE SW GND  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 7 (PUR)  
Test point 2 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 23 (BRN)

Is the resistance OK?  
YES : REPLACE THE MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT .  
NO : Repair an open in the wire between the multi-information display unit and the audio remote switch.  
If the wires are OK, REPLACE THE CABLE REEL .  
8. Determine possible failure area (AUDIO REMOTE SW line, REMOTE SW GND line):  
1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected  
Test circuit TFT INFO, REMOTE SW GND  
Test point 1 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 7 (PUR)  
Test point 2 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 23 (BRN)

Is the resistance OK?  
YES : Repair an open in the wire between the multi-information display unit and the audio remote switch.  
If the wires are OK, REPLACE THE CABLE REEL .  
NO : Repair an open in the wire between the multi-information display unit and the audio remote switch.  
If the wires are OK, REPLACE THE CABLE REEL .  
9. Open wire check (B CAN-H line, B CAN-L line):  
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).  
2. Disconnect the following connectors.  
ο‚‘
Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P)  
Multi-information display unit connector A (32P)  
3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.  
Test condition IG LOCK (0)  
ο‚‘
Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P): disconnected Multi-information display unit connector A  
(32P): disconnected  
Test circuit B CAN-H  
Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) No. 1 (PNK)  
Test point 2 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 31 (PNK)  
Test circuit B CAN-L  
Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) No. 9 (BLU)  
Test point 2 Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) No. 15 (BLU)

Is there continuity?  
YES : The B CAN-H and the B CAN-L wires are OK. Go to step 10.  
NO : Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the multi-information display  
unit.  
10. Audio-navigation unit check:  
ο‚‘
1. SUBSTITUTE A KNOWN-GOOD MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY UNIT , and  
recheck.  
Does the symptom go away?  
YES : Replace the original multi-information display unit.  
NO : REPLACE THE AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT .  
AUDIO REMOTE SWITCH DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY (AUDIO UNIT BUTTONS WORK)  
(WITH MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY WITHOUT NAVIGATION)
