SPECIAL TOOL DESCRIPTION

Description/Tool Number
Backprobe Set 07SAZ-001000A (2)
REMOVAL
1. Glove Box - Move
1. Detach the glove box damper hook (A), and release both glove box stops (B) by pushing them in,
then let glove box (C) hang down.

TEST
NOTE:
Before testing the motor, check for HVAC DTCs or climate control DTCs.
1. Mode Control Motor - Test
1. Disconnect the mode control motor connector.
NOTE:
Incorrectly applying power and ground to the mode control motor will
damage it. Follow the instructions carefully.

2. Connect battery power to terminal No. 6 of the mode control motor, and ground terminal No. 7; the
mode control motor should run smoothly, and stop at DEFROST. If it does not, reverse the
connections; the mode control motor should run smoothly, and stop at VENT. When the mode
control motor stops running, disconnect battery power immediately.
3. If the mode control motor did not run in step 2, remove it, then check the mode control linkage and
door for smooth movement.

If the linkage and door move smoothly, go to step 4.

If the linkage or door sticks or binds, repair them as needed.
4. Measure the resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 3. It should be between 4.2 kohms and 7.8
kohms.
5. Reconnect the mode control motor connector.
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. Using the backprobe set, measure the voltage between terminals No. 2 and No. 3.
VENT: About 0.5 V
DEFROST: About 4.5 V
8. If either the resistance or the voltage readings are not as specified, replace the mode control motor.
INSTALLATION
1. Glove Box - Move
1. Install the glove box (A). Make sure the glove box stops (B) snap into place securely.
2. Install the glove box damper hook (C).

OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE INDICATOR CALIBRATION
PROCEDURE
NOTE:
To test the outside air temperature sensor, refer to the outside air temperature
sensor test procedure.
1. Outside Air Temperature Indicator - Calibration
Description
The outside air temperature sensor is located behind the center of the front bumper. The gauge control
module uses measurements from this sensor, plus analog with data provided by the climate control unit
via the B-CAN communication line, to display the outside air temperature. Because of the location of the
sensor, it may be affected by heat reflection from the road, engine and radiator or hot exhaust from
surrounding traffic.
These conditions can soak the outside air temperature sensor in heat and cause inaccurate readings. Logic
has been written into the gauge control module to help prevent abnormal or fluctuating outside air
temperature indicator readings.
Outside Air Temperature Indicator Logic
Initial outside air temperature is indicated after the ignition switch is turned ON (II):

Engine coolant temperature is 140 Β°F (60 Β°C) or higher:
If the engine coolant temperature is 140 Β°F (60 Β°C) or higher when the ignition switch is turned ON
