2. Connect battery power to terminal No. 7 of the air mix control motor, and ground terminal No. 6;
the air mix control motor should run smoothly, and stop at MAX HOT. If it does not, reverse the
connections; the air mix control motor should run smoothly, and stop at MAX COOL. When the air
mix control motor stops running, disconnect battery power immediately.
3. If the air mix control motor did not run in step 2, remove it, then check the air mix control linkage
and door for smooth movement.
ο¬
If the linkage and door move smoothly, go to step 4.
ο¬
If the linkage or door sticks or binds, repair them as needed.
4. Measure the resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 3. It should be between 4.2 kohms and 7.8
kohms.
5. Reconnect the air mix control motor connector.
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. Using the backprobe set, measure the voltage between terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
MAX COOL: About 0.5 V
MAX HOT: About 4.0 V
8. If either the resistance or the voltage readings are not as specified, replace the air mix control
motor.
BLOWER POWER TRANSISTOR TEST (CLIMATE CONTROL)
REMOVAL
1. Passenger's Dashboard Undercover
1. Gently pull down the passenger's dashboard undercover (A) to detach the clips (B), then pull away
the undercover to release the pins (C) from the holder (D).

2. Glove Box
1. Remove the bolts (A).

2. Release both glove box stops (A) by pushing them in, then let the glove box (B) hang down.

3. Detach the glove box damper hook (A), then remove the glove box (B).

3. Glove Box Frame
1. Remove the glove box frame (A).

5. Power Transistor
1. Remove the power transistor (A).

6. Shift Lever Panel (AT)
1. Carefully pry out the shift lever panel (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B, C)
and the hooks (D), then remove the shift lever panel.

7. Driver's Inner Dashboard Trim Panel
1. Carefully pry out the driver's inner dashboard trim panel (A) with the appropriate trim tool to
detach the clips (B), then remove the driver's inner dashboard trim panel.

8. Climate Control Unit Assembly
1. Remove the climate control unit assembly (A), then disconnect the connector (B).

TEST
1. Power Transistor - Test
1. Measure the resistance between terminals No. 2 and No. 4 of the power transistor. It should be
about 1.5 kohms.
ο¬
If the resistance is within the specifications, go to step 3.
ο¬
If the resistance is not within the specifications, replace the power transistor.
NOTE:
Also check the blower motor. Power transistor failure can be caused
by a defective blower motor.
2. Reconnect the power transistor connector.

3. Connect climate control unit connector terminals No. 7 and No. 12 with a jumper wire.
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
5. Check that the blower motor runs.

If the blower motor does not run, replace the power transistor.
NOTE: A faulty blower motor can cause the power transistor to fail.
Before replacing the power transistor, check the blower motor
for binding, and replace it if necessary.
ο¬
If the blower motor runs, the power transistor is OK.

INSTALLATION
1. Climate Control Unit Assembly
1. Connect the connector (A), then install the climate control unit assembly (B).
