1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
Climate control unit 32P connector: disconnected

Is there continuity?
YES : The GND wire is OK. REPLACE THE CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT .
NO : Check for an open in the wire between the climate control unit and body ground. If the wire is OK,
check for poor ground at G502.

Description/Tool Number
Backprobe Set 07SAZ-001000A (2)
TEST
NOTE:
Before testing the motor, check for climate control DTCs.
1. Driver's Air Mix Control Motor - Test
1. Disconnect the driver's air mix control motor connector.
NOTE:
Incorrectly applying power and ground to the driver's air mix control
motor will damage it. Follow the instructions carefully.

2. Connect battery power to terminal No. 7 of the driver's air mix control motor, and ground terminal
No. 6; the driver's air mix control motor should run smoothly, and stop at MAX HOT. If it does
not, reverse the connections; the driver's air mix control motor should run smoothly, and stop at
MAX COOL. When the driver's air mix control motor stops running, disconnect battery power
immediately.
3. If the driver's air mix control motor did not run in step 2, remove it, then check the driver's air mix
control linkage and door for smooth movement.

If the linkage and door move smoothly, go to step 4.

If the linkage or door sticks or binds, repair them as needed.
4. Measure the resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 3. It should be between 4.2 kohms and 7.8
kohms.
5. Reconnect the driver's air mix control motor connector.
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. Using the backprobe set, measure the voltage between terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
MAX COOL: About 0.5 V
MAX HOT: About 4.0 V
8. If either the resistance or the voltage readings are not as specified, replace the driver's air mix
control motor.
HUMIDITY/IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR TEST
TEST
NOTE:
1. Humidity Sensor - Test
NOTE:
Before testing the sensor, check for climate control DTCs.
The climate control unit receives humidity (%) data via digital
transmission.
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Press and hold both the AUTO (A) and RECIRCULATION (B) buttons, then start the engine.
3. After the engine starts, release both buttons. The climate control unit will flash the sensor number
and then the value for that sensor.
4. Press the REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER button (C) until the humidity "C" is displayed. For details
about the displayed content.
5. If the value is far from the actual humidity, replace the humidity/in-car temperature sensor.
