This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused
by a mechanical problem in the transmission.

DTC Description
P0962 A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve A
(Open or Short)
1. Problem verification (DTC check):

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Start the engine, and wait for at least 1 second.
4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

P0962 A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve A
(Open or Short)
Is DTC P0962 indicated?
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 5.
NO : Go to step 2.
2. IG1 FI-ECU line check:

ο‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
3. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (49P)
ο‘
ο‘
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG ON (II)
PCM connector A (49P): disconnected
Test circuit IG1 FI-ECU
Test point 1 PCM connector A (49P) No. 1 (BLU)
Test point 2 Body ground

Is there battery voltage?
YES : The IG1 FI-ECU wire is OK. Go to step 3.
NO : Check for a blown No. B7 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. If the fuse is blown,
replace it. If the fuse blows again, repair a short in the No. B7 (7.5 A) fuse circuit. If the fuse is OK,
repair an open in the IG1 FI-ECU wire between the PCM and the under-dash fuse/relay box. Then do the
repair verification .
3. A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A operation check:

ο‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Reconnect PCM connector A (49P).
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
4. Select Clutch Pressure Control (Linear) Solenoid Valve A in the Miscellaneous Test Menu, and
test A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate NORMAL?
YES : The A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A operation is OK. Go to step 4.
NO : Go to step 5.
4. Problem verification (OBD STATUS check):

1. In the Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Control MENU, set A/T clutch pressure control
solenoid valve A at 1.0 A with the HDS.
ο‘
2. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P0962 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

P0962 A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve A (Open or Short)
Does the HDS indicate FAILED?
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 5.
NO : If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor
connections or loose terminals between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and the PCM. If the
HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, do the function test again.
5. A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A internal resistance check:

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect the following connector.
ο‘
A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector
3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
ο‘
A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector: disconnected
Test circuit LINEAR A+, PG2
Test point 1 A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector No. 1
Test point 2 A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector No. 2

Is there 4.8-6.0 ohms?
YES : A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A is OK. Go to step 6.
NO : REPLACE A/T CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE A , then do the
repair verification .
6. Open wire check (PG2 line):
ο‘
1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector: disconnected
Test circuit PG2
Test point 1 A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector No. 1 (BLK)

Is there continuity?
YES : The PG2 wire is OK. Go to step 7.
NO : Repair an open in the PG2 wire between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and ground
(G101) or repair poor ground (G101), then do the repair verification .
7. Shorted wire check (LINEAR A+ line):

ο‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
3. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector B (49P)
ο‘
4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector: disconnected
PCM connector B (49P): disconnected
Test circuit LINEAR A+
Test point 1 A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector No. 2 (LT BLU)

Is there continuity?
YES : Repair a short to ground in the LINEAR A+ wire between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid
valve A and the PCM, then do the repair verification .
NO : The LINEAR A+ wire is not shorted. Go to step 8.
8. Open wire check (LINEAR A+ line):

1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A 2P connector: disconnected
PCM connector B (49P): disconnected

Is there continuity?
YES : The LINEAR A+ wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software See PCM
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE , or substitute a known-good PCM See
PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE , then do the repair verification .
NO : Repair an open in the LINEAR A+ wire between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and
the PCM, then do the repair verification .
REPAIR VERIFICATION (OBD STATUS CHECK)

1. Reconnect all connectors.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
4. Start the engine, and wait for at least 1 second.
5. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P0962 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

P0962 A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve A (Open or Short)
Does the HDS indicate PASSED, FAILED, or NOT COMPLETED?
PASSED Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM See PCM
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE . Check for other DTC after this troubleshooting. If
any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
FAILED Troubleshooting is incomplete. Check for poor connections or loose terminals between A/T clutch
pressure control solenoid valve A and the PCM, then go to step 1 and recheck. If the PCM was updated,
substitute a known-good PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE , and
check the OBD STATUS again.
NOT COMPLETED Repair verification is incomplete. Meet the test condition, and check the OBD STATUS
again.
