Honda CR-V A/T CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC CODES) ➜ DTC P0716: Input Shaft (Mainshaft) Speed Sensor

YES : Leave the engine off for at least 6 hours, then go to step 3.  
NO : REPLACE THE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR .  
3. ATF temperature sensor check:

1. Compare the values of the ATF Temperature Sensor and ECT SENSOR 2.

Is the value of the ATF Temperature Sensor higher than the value of ECT SENSOR 2 by 58 Β°F (32 Β°C), or  
is the value of the ATF Temperature Sensor lower than the value of ECT SENSOR 2 by 43 Β°F (24 Β°C)?  
YES : REPLACE THE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR .  
NO : The ATF temperature sensor is OK. Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

NOTE:  

Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot  
with the HDS, and review the General Troubleshooting Information See  
HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE A/T SYSTEM or HOW TO  
TROUBLESHOOT THE FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS .  

This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused  
by a mechanical problem in the transmission.

P0716 Input Shaft (Mainshaft) Speed Sensor  
(Range/Performance)  
1. DTC check:

ο‚‘

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.  
3. Raise the vehicle on a lift. Make sure it is securely supported, and allow the front wheels to  
rotate freely.  
ο‚‘
ο‚‘
4. Start the engine, disable the VSA by pressing the VSA OFF button, run the vehicle with the shift  
lever in D, and keep the vehicle speed at speeds over 12 mph (20 km/h) for at least 10 seconds.  
Slow down, and stop the wheels.  
5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

P0718 Input Shaft (Mainshaft) Speed Sensor  
(Intermittent Failure)  
Is DTC P0718 indicated?  
YES : DO THE TROUBLESHOOTING FOR DTC P0718.  
NO : Go to step 2.  
2. Problem verification:

1. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0716 indicated?  
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.  
NO : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.  
3. Input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor connection check:  
Are the connection and installation OK?  
YES : The connection and installation are OK. REPLACE THE INPUT SHAFT (MAINSHAFT)  
SPEED SENSOR , then do the repair verification .  
NO : Repair faulty connection or installation, then do the repair verification .  
REPAIR VERIFICATION

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).  
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.  
3. Start the engine, disable the VSA by pressing the VSA OFF button, run the vehicle with the shift lever
