Stuck OFF
1. ATF check:
ο‘
ο‘
ο‘
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on).
2. Make sure that the transmission is filled to the proper level, and check for fluid leaks.
3. DRAIN THE ATF through a strainer. Inspect the strainer for metal debris or excessive clutch
material.
Does the strainer have metal debris or excessive clutch material?
YES : Replace the transmission See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DISASSEMBLY AND
REASSEMBLY or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , then do
the repair verification .

2. Shift solenoid valve E operation check:
ο‘
ο‘
ο‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Select Shift Solenoid Valve E in the Miscellaneous Test Menu, and check that shift solenoid
valve E operates with the HDS.
Is a clicking sound heard?
YES : Shift solenoid valve E is OK. Go to step 3.
NO : REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE E , then do the repair verification .
3. A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A operation check:
ο‘
1. Run the engine until the Engine Coolant Temperature reaches 176 Β°F (80 Β°C) with the HDS in
the A/T Data List.
