Is there continuity?
YES : The PG1/PG2/LG2 wires are OK. Update the PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a
known-good PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE, then
recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is
complete. If the symptom/indication goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original
PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE.
NO : Repair an open in the PG1, PG2, and/or LG2 wire between the PCM (B1, B10, C2, C15, C20)
and G101.

PROCEDURE
1. PCM - Update
NOTE:
Check any official Honda service website for more service information
about updating the MVCI and control units.
2. Warm Up The Engine
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3, 00 rpm without load in P or N until the radiator fan comes
on, then let it idle.
3. PCM - Idle Learn
1. Let the engine idle for about 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed.
NOTE:
If the radiator fan comes on, do not include its running time in the 5
minutes.
2. After learning, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn
1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the
dashboard.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC
circuit troubleshooting.
4. Select CRANK PATTERN in the ADJUSTMENT MENU with the HDS.

5. Select CRANK PATTERN CLEAR, and clear the CKP pattern.
6. Select CRANK PATTERN LEARNING with the HDS, and follow the screen prompts.
7. After learning, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
8. Disconnect the HDS from the DLC.
