Honda CR-V Fuel & Emission System Troubleshooting & Testing ➜ Idle Speed Inspection

YES : The fuses are OK. Go to step 27 (relay check).
NO : Replace the blown fuse(s).
27. Relay check:
1. TEST THE FOLLOWING RELAYS :
ο‚‘
NOTE:
In case the failure is not reproduced, the following relays may have
intermittent failure.




PGM-FI main relay 2
Ignition coil relay
PGM-FI main relay 1
PGM-FI subrelay
Are the relays OK?
YES : Go to the Diagnostic Interview See FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS
DIAGNOSTIC INTERVIEW - ENGINE STALLS or FUEL AND EMISSIONS SYSTEMS
DIAGNOSTIC INTERVIEW - ENGINE WILL NOT START, ENGINE STARTS BUT
STALLS IMMEDIATELY, OR ENGINE IS HARD TO START.
NO : Replace the damaged relays.
IDLE SPEED INSPECTION
INSPECTION
1. HDS DLC - Connection
1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the
dashboard.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC
circuit troubleshooting.

2. Warm Up The Engine
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3, 00 rpm without load in P or N until the radiator fan comes
on, then let it idle.
3. Idle Speed - Inspection
1. Check the idle speed under no load conditions: headlights, blower fan, radiator fan, audio system,
and air conditioner off.
Idle speed should be:
760Β±50 rpm (in P or N)
2. 2. Let the engine idle for 1 minute with high electric load (A/C switch on, temperature set to max
cool, blower fan on High, and headlights on high beam).
Idle speed should be:
760Β±50 rpm (in P or N)
NOTE:
If the idle speed is not within specification, do the PCM idle learn
procedure. If the idle speed is still not within specification, go to
symptom troubleshooting.

MIL CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Gauge control module check:
ο‚‘
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
ο‚‘
2. DO THE GAUGE SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION .
Does the MIL flash?
YES : Go to step 2.
NO : Substitute a known-good gauge control module See GAUGE CONTROL MODULE
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or Rewriting the ODO Data and Transferring the
Maintenance Minderβ„’ Data to a New Gauge Control Module , then recheck. If the
symptom/indication goes away with a known-good gauge control module, replace the original
gauge control module See GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION or Rewriting the ODO Data and Transferring the Maintenance Minderβ„’
Data to a New Gauge Control Module .
2. PCM check:
ο‚‘
1. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
ο‚‘
2. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.
Signal Threshold Current conditions
