Is there continuity?
YES : Repair a short in the SCS wire between the PCM (A42) and the DLC.
NO : The SCS wire is OK. Update the PCM See PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or
PCM UPDATE if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM See
PCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE, then recheck. If the
symptom/indication goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the
symptom/indication goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM See PCM
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PCM UPDATE.
PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. HDS DLC - Connection
1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the
dashboard.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC
circuit troubleshooting.

2. PCM - Reset
1. Reset the PCM with the HDS while the engine is stopped.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait 30 seconds.
3. Warm Up The Engine
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3, 00 rpm without load in P or N until the radiator fan comes
on, then let it idle.
4. PCM - Idle Learn
1. Let the engine idle for about 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed.
NOTE:
If the radiator fan comes on, do not include its running time in the 5
minutes.
2. After learning, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

PCM POWER AND GROUND CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Engine starting check:
ο‘
1. Try to start the engine.
Does the engine start and idle smoothly?
YES : GO TO THE F-CAN CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING .
NO : Go to step 2.
2. Determine possible failure area (+B IG MAIN wire shorted, others):

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Check the following fuse.
